City Council Rejects Secondary Suites

On June 29, 2015, Calgary City Council defeated a proposed bylaw that would have allowed more than 35,000 properties in Wards 7, 8, 9 and 11 to legally build basement suites. Flood reveals historical site

Two years ago, Calgary and area experienced massive flooding around the Bow and Elbow Rivers.  Along one of the banks that was eroded a new archaeological site surfaced, revealing a teepee circle that had been covered by silt in a flood between 500 and 1,000 years ago.  Since the flooding, an archaeological survey was completed and more than 100 additional similar sites have been located.  Read more... read more.
