10 Tips to Revitalize Your Hiberating Home

(April 19, 2015 )

Sometimes, the smallest things make the biggest different and make your home so much more enjoyable and welcoming to visitors. Here's a simple checklist to make short work of giving you home a spring revitalization:

  1. Work from the top down, inside to outside, to avoid getting what you just cleaned dirty again.
  2. Do one room, even one area of a room, at a time to avoid unfinished jobs. The satisfaction of seeing one room sparkle will make it feel like all the hard work is worth the effort.
  3. When tidying, reduce trips around the house by temporarily depositing items enroute but not at their final destination.
  4. Do two things at once, while laundry is going, scrub the shower.
  5. Make small repairs. If you’re not handy, ask a friend or relative who is or hire someone so they don't pile up.
  6. Invest in some disposable gloves to protect your hands.
  7. Dust before vacuuming or cleaning the floor. Try feather or Swiffer dusters, especially the extendable ones to reach above window and door casings, ceiling fans and into corners.
  8. Buy mops with a squeeze mechanism, great for most kinds of floors, and a decent size, heavy duty pail.
  9. Don’t forget to clean your windows, sunny days are coming.
  10. Use a Swiffer for light dusting or the vacuum attachment to clean your hardwood floors. Then, gently damp mop, with a cleaner made for wood such as Murphy’s Oil Soap or Bona Hardwood Cleaner.

And finally, take a moment to enjoy!
